James Rueschhoff Obituary

James J. Rueschhoff, 66, formerly of Lawrence, Kansas passed away August 2, 2017 in Glendale, Arizona.

Jim was born in Lyons, Kansas, grew up in Overland Park, Kansas and moved to Lawrence to attend the University of Kansas. He and his wife, Klissa, lived in Lawrence until 1999. Jim worked for Packer Plastics for many years. He was an avid KU basketball fan and his wife, Klissa, was well known as the Candy Lady. As an active amateur radio operator, Jim volunteered with the Douglas County Emergency Preparedness Office and was active in the local amateur radio club. Jim served on the board of Independence, Inc. and was a volunteer consultant for several automobile manufacturers for design of vehicles for individuals with disabilities.

A private celebration of life will be held in Kansas at a later date. In lieu of flowers or donations, please go home, hug you spouse and kids, mend a broken friendship, do something nice for a friend and try every day to make the world a better place.

I just learned of Jim's passing last night. Klissa, you're in our thoughts and prayers. Since Jim introduced me to Gary, we owe a lot to him. We have wonderful memories of you both.

Jim was a dear and true friend and I will miss him tremendously. We shared many adventures both real and virtual over our almost 50-year friendship. Linda and I send our deepest condolences to you, Klissa. We can see your inner strength showing through in the last words of Jim's obituary.

I knew Jim from grade scool in Lyons and St Pauls Church. His mom and my mom were best friends so we had many activities together. He was always so nice and I am certain will be greatly missed.
