Susan Watts Obituary

Susan Helene Watts, age 84, died Monday, March 30, 2026. Sue was born June 14, 1941 in Battle Creek, MI to Howard and Madelyn (Moore) Watts. She graduated from Battle Creek Central High School, class of 1959. Following high school, Sue graduated with a Bachelor's Degree from Michigan State University and a Masters Degree from the University of Kansas. Sue began teaching in Oskaloosa, Kansas and then taught at McCook Community College in McCook, Nebraska for 25 years.

Sue had a distinguished career, earning the Gene Budig Outstanding Faculty Member Award and the Outstanding Kansas Theater Teacher Award. She taught English, speech and theater and directed many plays throughout her career. In 2018, she received the Marquis Who's Who Lifetime Achievement Award. She always had a passion for dogs, owning many throughout her life.

Sue was preceded in death by her parents, and an uncle, Carl Moore.

Cremation has taken place and Sue's cremated remains will be inurned at Oak Hill Cemetery, Battle Creek, MI. Those wishing to make memorial contributions are asked to consider the McCook Community College Foundation or McCook Humane Society.
