My name is Robert Markland and I knew Major Brooks when I was at Stewart Air Force Base, New York. He helped with the Boy Scout troop off base. My condolences to the whole family. I remember Steve and Tommy and Connie.

I am so sorry to hear of Lee's passing. Lee was a first cousin to my father, Paul Dean Smith. I have seen Lee in many pictures that my Dad had during the war when he would come back to Winfield on leave. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family.

Mr. Brooks was my teacher at Oskaloosa. He taught current events. That class was a lot of fun. Mr Brooks was always smiling. Very nice man. My heart felt prayers to your family.

I only knew Lee from church, but was always impressed by his courtesy and kindness. Even as he needed more guidance and support he never behaved with less than impeccable manners. He was a kind and gentle soul and, along with LaFay, an ideal of friendliness and interest in other and deep love for each other that was apparent to all who were fortunate enough to meet them
