Rod Barnes Obituary

Rod Barnes was born on November 19, 1949. He thoroughly enjoyed 40 years of being a Family Practice Doctor here in Lawrence.

His life was full, and he lived each day with intention and great energy.

We will gather as friends informally at Venue 1235 (1235 N 3rd Street, Lawrence, KS 66044) on Friday, September 19 from 4-6p.m. Come by at any point to say hello.

No formal service and no long obituary are two of his requests.

He always was a very humble man.

Donations in Rod's memory may be made to Bert Nash or Just Foods and may be sent in care of Warren-McElwain Mortuary; 120 W 13th Street, Lawrence, KS 66044.

I do not live in Lawrence now and heard through a friend of Rod's passing. I found this is one of a few times when the written word fails. As my doctor for about 30 years, his absolutely genuine, warm, intelligent, caring and humorous demeanor simply made my life better just having known him. My sincere condolences to his family and friends, and thanks for the light he shared with others.
