She lived most of her life near Westphalia, Kansas. She was an only child and she loved walking with her little dog Patsy on the family farm. She had a very happy childhood and often mentioned going fishing with her mother Stella for catfish. She attended school in a one-room schoolhouse in that area and loved her teachers and classmates.

On June 9th 1945 she and Paul Garber of Sawyer, Kansas were united in marriage. To this union five children were born. They were the late Gordon Garber, Patricia, Michael, Priscilla and Douglas.

She and her husband Paul were blessed to have thirteen grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.

Neva was preceded in death by her birth mother Arletta who gave her life so she could be adopted by her loving parents.

Also preceding her in death are her son Gordon who died at fifty-one years, little great-grandson Henry who died at age two, grandson Dalton Garber, her parents Roy and Stella Crist and their four babies Arvella, Norma, Bruce and Lawrence all of whom died in infancy, her stepmother Florence and all of Paul's sisters and their husbands, her husband Paul's parents Noah and Etta, and Paul's brothers Hugh and Earl who both died in their childhood.

She retired from the Hercules Ammunition Plant near Desoto Kansas in 1988 after 17 years as an administrative assistant. She enjoyed her job very much and made many lifelong friends there.

She loved Jesus Christ and often spoke of how grateful she was for her Christian heritage.
