Rodney Ditty Obituary

Rodney Warren Ditty, age 70, of Overland Park, Kansas, formerly of Tonganoxie, Kansas, passed away on March 26, 2026. A celebration of life will be announced at a later date.

Rodney was born on October 26, 1955, in Lawrence, Kansas, to Morrison Monroe "Morris" Ditty and Mildred Rose Mills Ditty. After graduating from Tonganoxie High School in 1973 he began his working career in Tonganoxie with Slawson Plumbing and Electrical before joining Operating Engineers Local #101, where he proudly worked as a heavy equipment operator.

Rodney had a deep love for the outdoors, especially tending to his garden; his tomatoes were a particular point of pride. He was known for being the life of the party and never missed a chance to make people laugh. In his later years, he especially enjoyed spending time with friends, entertaining those around him, and bringing a little humor and light to everyday life in his community.

He was preceded in death by his father, Morris Ditty (Vara Ditty), and his mother, Mildred Mills Ditty.

Rodney is survived by his daughter, Jennifer Ditty Adams (Chad Adams) of Louisburg, KS; son, Neil Ditty (Crystal Landis) of Eudora, KS, grandchildren, Kaylyn Carpenter and Camden Carpenter; son, Adam Ditty (Jordan Ditty) of Monterey, CA, grandson, Kaden Ditty. He is also survived by his sister, Teresa Woodfin (Keith Woodfin) of Republic, Missouri; brothers Gary Ditty (Glinda Harris) of Linwood, Kansas; Cary Ditty (Terri Dexter) of Tonganoxie, Kansas; and James Ditty of Kansas City, Kansas.

Rodney will be remembered for his big personality, sharp sense of humor, love of fresh tomatoes, and his lifelong commitment to saying what everyone else was thinking, usually with a grin.
