Mildred Wolfe Obituary

A Requiem Eucharist for Mildred Eileen Holcomb Wolfe, 94, will be held at Trinity Episcopal Church in Lawrence, KS. at 11:00 am on Tuesday, June 27th followed by a reception. A Service of Burial will be held on Thursday, June 29th at 11:00 am at All Saint's Episcopal Church in Portsmouth, OH. followed by internment at Memorial Burial Park in Wheelersburg, OH. Millie died Tuesday afternoon, June 6, 2017 at Pioneer Ridge Retirement Community where she received loving care for seven years.

Millie was born February 1, 1923 in Portsmouth, OH the daughter of Garrett A. and Winnie (Thompson) Holcomb. She married William Virgil Wolfe November 22, 1941 in Greenup, KY. He preceded her in death in June of 2006 and she was also preceded in death by her brothers, George E. Holcomb and Mervin L. Holcomb.

Millie was Class Valedictorian at Glenwood High School in New Boston, OH. and was a dental assistant, secretary, wife, mother, and homemaker. Later in her life, she volunteered as a Republican precinct captain and appeared in a television commercial for a local pharmacy in Dayton, OH. She had a life-long devotion to children of all ages and was a member of Prince of Peace Church of the Brethren in Kettering, OH.

Survivors include her son, The Right Reverend Dean Elliott Wolfe, NY, NY, her daughter-in-law, Ellen Marie Frantz-Wolfe, her grandson, William Jacob Wolfe, Washington D.C. and her sister, Virginia Holcomb Oliver of Minford, OH. along with many nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, the family invites contributions in Millie's memory to The Bishop Kemper School for Ministry, 835 S.W.
