Michael Vogel Obituary
Michael was born on May 30, 1963 in Lawrence, the son of Edward Vogel and Elinor Sue (Roberts) Evans.
He was a member of Corpus Christi Catholic Church.
He was a card dealer at the Prairie Band Casino and Resort. He had previously been a manager at Taco Grande, Dairy Queen and Chipotle.
He married Anita Young on August 21, 1987 at Corpus Christi Catholic Church in Lawrence. She survives of the home.
Other survivors include his daughter, Sydney Rae Vogel, San Marcos, TX; his mother and father-in-law, Mike and Lolita Hill, Lawrence; and his aunt Fern Vogel, Grandview, MO.
The family suggests memorial contributions to be made in his name to the Lawrence Humane Society and may be sent in care of Warren-McElwain Mortuary, 120 W. 13th Street, Lawrence, KS 66044.

Anita, I was shocked to learn Mike had passed. I'm so sorry. He and I were practically inseparable as kids. He was always a kind soul. You probably never knew, but I broke my arm on his head in a fight when I was in 1st grade...! I will remember him fondly.

I am so saddened to hear of Mike's passing. I learned so much from both of you working at Dairy Queen during my 4 years at KU. I have often thought about the good times we had as such a tight team working at Iowa Street. Mike had such a big heart and ability to make all of those late nights cleaning fun and filled with laughter.
I would love to hear from you and catch up if you want to reach out. We get to Lawrence every couple of years to visit my brother and his wife.

Mike was 10 years old when we moved across the street from him on Terrace Rd. He was kind and friendly even then. Most likely he was born that way. He is gone much too soon. A person with his warmth and personality can only make the world a better place.
