Marion Temple Obituary

Marion Otto Temple, 90, Lawrence, KS, passed away Sunday, June 11, 2023, in Falls Church, VA where he had recently moved to be near his daughter and her family. He will be laid to rest in a private family service at the Union cemetery in Douglas County, Ks

Marion was born on April 11, 1933, in Lyons, KS, the son of Keith and Margaret (Cain) Temple. A graduate of Lyons high school and Brown-Mackie school of business, Marion served in the Army during the Korean Conflict after which he worked for Blake Lumber and Grain Company in Kansas City, Missouri. In 1974 Marion joined the University of Kansas Student Housing Department where he worked until his retirement in 1994.

Marion married Opal Martin on July 31, 1960, in Kansas City, MO and she preceded him in death in 2009. The couple moved to Lawrence, KS in 1975. He raised Angus cattle and was a member of the American and Kansas Angus association.

Survivors include his daughter, Jeanne (Barry) Disney and three grandchildren: Emily Disney, Atticus Disney, and Hayley (Disney) Melanson.

Marion was preceded in death by his parents and siblings.

The family suggest memorial contributions in Marion's name to the Douglas County Visiting Nurses Association at www.kansasvna.org or be sent in care of the Warren-McElwain Mortuary, 120 W. 13th Street, Lawrence, KS 66044.
