Larry Nigh Obituary

Larry Frank Nigh, age 75, passed away in Lawrence, Kansas on March 13, 2023. He was the husband of Paula Helen Nigh.

Born in Mulberry, Arkansas, Larry was the oldest child of William (Bill) Frank Nigh and Beatrice (Betty) Virginia Paillet. He graduated from the University of Missouri-Columbia with a Bachelor's degree and Masters degree in Geography.

Larry served in the U.S. Navy from 1969 to 1973. He served in the Kansas Army National Guard from 1996 to 2005. He advanced in the ranks to 3rd Class Petty Officer and Staff Sergeant.

Larry's siblings, following in age, are William David Nigh, Boyd Francis Nigh, Marilou Charlotte Smith, Todd Michael Nigh, and Michelle Maria Weisman.

Late in life, after moving to Lawrence, Larry became a prolific writer. In 2013, he began composing, penning over 500 poems, stories, and other nonfiction works. They are all published on storiesspace.com under his pen name, Survivor.

In Lawrence, Larry also began using his voice and other theatrical talents on stage. Beginning in 2013, he started taking dance lessons, especially ballet, at the Lawrence Arts Center. In addition, he volunteered at Theatre Lawrence on Stage. Over the next decade, Larry appeared in over 22 musicals, plays, and shows. He was happy to be in the Kansas Nutcracker seven times. He also appeared in The King and I, South Pacific, A Chorus Line, Chitty-Chitty Bang Bang, and Billy Elliot the Musical.
