Gary Fincham Obituary

Gary Linus Fincham was born April 4, 1944 in Westmoreland, Kansas, the son of Linus William and Martina Christine (Keating) Fincham. He met Susan (Krug) Fincham in 1960 where they attended Marysville High School, and he played multiple sports before graduating in 1962. Gary and Susan married on August 20, 1966 and made their home in Lawrence, Kansas for his final year at the University of Kansas School of Pharmacy. Upon graduation in 1967, he joined his father and father's partner in Fincham Rexall Drug in Beatrice, Nebraska until 1982. During this time Gary was active in Jaycees, The Sertoma Club and later served as Sunrise Sertoma's first President. While they lived in Beatrice, Gary opened a second pharmacy location, started Med-Equip (a medical supply company) and he and Susan welcomed two sons; Craig '68 & Kent '70. Gary maintained Med-Equip after he and Susan moved to Lawrence, Kansas and added a new branch there. He was also a major stockholder in Heartland Homecare services from the 1990's until it was sold in 2023.

Gary died February 16, 2026 at Bridge Haven in Lawrence after a 10-year battle with Alzheimer's. Gary is survived by his beloved wife of 59 years, Susan; their two sons, Craig Fincham and Kent (Amy) Fincham and two grandchildren, Gabby and William "Burke" Fincham; two brothers, Jan Paul (Diane) Fincham, Dr. Jack Edward (Melinda Ash) Fincham, sister-in-law, Nancy (Mike) Schottelkotte; nephews and nieces, Kylie, Colby, Derek and Kelcie Fincham.
