Joseph Arnold Steiner

Joseph "Big Joe" Steiner, 76, Lecompton, passed away Thursday, May 16, 2013.

Joe was born October 22, 1936, in Butternut, WI, the son of Arnold and Evelyn Steiner.

He graduated from Butternut High School in 1954 and moved to Kansas, where he served as a Military Police Officer at Ft. Riley. He was self-employed as a Brick Mason for over 50 years and was a member of St. Matthew's Catholic Church.

Joe married Sara Escobar on October 25, 1958, in Manhattan. She survives. Other survivors include sons, Steven Steiner, Chicago, IL, Gregory Steiner, Olathe, Rod Steiner, Lecompton, Brian Steiner, Gardner, Jody Steiner, Kansas City, MO; 8 grandchildren; and sister, Bonnie Joustra. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Tom, Art, Gordy; and sister, Patsy.

Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, May 20, 2013, at St. Matthew's Catholic Church. Private family inurnment will be at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the food pantry at St. Matthew's Catholic Church, 2700 SE Virginia, Topeka, Kansas 66605.
