John Neet Obituary

John Martin Neet, 59, of South Padre Island, Texas, passed away on Wednesday, November 1, at the Valley Baptist Medical Center, Harlingen, TX.

Mr. Neet was born on January 27, 1958, in Kansas City, Kansas, to Kenneth John Neet and Frances Vern (Martin) Neet.

He attended school in Kansas City, Kansas, and received a Bachelor of Science in Engineering degree from the Rolla School of Mines, Rolla, Missouri, in 1977.

In 1986 he married Kathleen J. Phillips of Girard, Kansas, at Circus Circus in Las Vegas. She survives of the home.

He began his career as an engineer with the Bendix Corporation later Allied Signal Aerospace. He founded J. M. Neet and Associates, a consulting company for the development of medical devices, and he was CEO of IntraLuminal Therapeutics, LLC, during which time he received an international patent as co-inventor, in cooperation with Kansas City heart surgeon, Thomas Winston, of the Safe-Steer Guide Wire System, Intraluminascope, a device to better clear arteries to the heart that are completely blocked. He developed several medical devices in cooperation with a number of renowned heart surgeons. At the time of his death, Mr. Neet had retired from Flowonix Medical, Inc., of Boston, and had moved to South Padre Island, Texas.

Mr. Neet was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Kathleen J. Neet of South Padre Island, Texas; a son, Thomas John Neet of Lawrence, Kansas; daughters, Madeleine Frances Neet of Houston, Texas; and Mallory Claire Neet of Pasadena, California. He is also survived by two sisters, Sharon E. Neet, Crookston, Minnesota, and Mary K. Neet, Clearwater, Florida, and a number of aunts, uncles and cousins.

Mr. Neet has been cremated. A private family memorial has been planned for Saturday, November 4. No additional services are planned at this time.

I worked with John at the Allied Signal plant in Kansas City back in the mid-80's he always had a big smile and would go out of his way to say "hello", he was a great guy. I am so sorry for your loss.
