John Hardwick

Funeral services for John Hardwick, 62, Eudora, will be at 1 pm Friday at Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home & Crematory, with Fr. Michael Scully officiating. The family will receive friends following the service. Mr. Hardwick died Mon., June 23, 2014, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.

He was born July 4, 1951, in Hutchinson, the son of Vincent and Arlene Barb Hardwick. He graduated from high school in Hutchinson, and later earned a bachelor's degree in Education from Kansas State University. He participated in ROTC. John was a machine operator at Hallmark Cards, and had 20 years of service at the time of his death. He was a member of the Loose Lugnuts Tailgate Club.

He married Linda A. Bechtel on Dec. 26, 1979, in Manhattan. She survives of the home. Other survivors include two sons, Kyle Hardwick and Jacquelyn, Hutchinson, and Jesse Hardwick and wife Starr, Eudora; a brother, Howard Hardwick and wife Tracey, Flower Mound, Tex.; and four grandchildren, Andrew, Shiloh, Jesse Jr., and Pieper.

Friends may call from 8 am until service time Friday. The family suggests memorials to the American Heart Association, in care of the funeral home, 601 Indiana St., Lawrence, KS, 66044. Online condolences may be sent at rumsey-yost.com.
