Jennifer Beckerman Obituary

"Love one another!" Those were some of Jennifer Anne Beckerman's last words as the 47-year-old passed away at home peacefully surrounded by her family and friends. Jennifer had battled ALS with dignity and grace for the past two and a half years before leaving this world July 25th, 2018 on a beautiful Wednesday morning in Kansas City, Missouri.

Jen was born on January 8, 1971 in the small town of Cape Girardeau, Missouri. She was a loving soul whose mantra was "ONE LOVE" befriending everyone she met from every walk of life. Jen made friends wherever she was whether it was her grade school friends at Nelson and Bryant elementary schools, Lincoln Jr. High, Southwest and Bishop Hogan high schools or bar tending, bookkeeping, and managing for Stanford and Sons Comedy Club and Metro Productions.

Having a strong belief in service to others, she gave her time and led projects for many organizations including the Spirit Sisters in Lazarus Ministries, Biker's Against Child Abuse (B.A.C.A.), and the ALS Association Mid-America Chapter, where she received the 2017 Tom Watson Award for Courage. She rode her motorcycle "Lily" in countless individual benefits for her fellow biker tribe, and helped out friends and strangers alike whenever there was a need.

Jen lived her life as an unapologetic rockin', single mom. Rarely sitting still, she celebrated with family and friends on numerous occasions, attending hundreds of concerts and theater performances, riding with the Kansas City Motorcycle Group she co-founded, or playing Bunco once a month on Friday nights with her girlfriends. She had a spiritual connection with the ocean and the beach visiting her favorite pink sands beach on Harbor Island in the Bahamas, and would wake early to watch the sun rise. She climbed mountains, she rafted rivers, she loved hard, and lived life with a passion. She will be missed dearly.

She reunites with family members who preceded her in death including her Grandpa Fran and Grannie Gracie Wagner, Grandpa Ralph and Grandma Edith Beckerman, Uncle Bill and Aunt Phyllis Beckerman, Uncle Rich Roseland, and Cousin Rob Beckerman.

She is survived by her daughter Savannah Beckerman, mom Cathy Wagner, dad Joe Beckerman, bonus dad Alan "Paw" Webster, bonus mom Susan Weninger, sister Professor Stephanie M. Beckerman, and hundreds of family and friends she touched with her zest for life.

Mass will be at noon, Saturday, August 11th at Saint Francis Xavier Catholic Church,1001 E. 52nd Street, Kansas City. Visitation will be 4:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. Friday, August 10th at McGilley State Line Chapel, 12301 State Line Road, Kansas City. A second visitation will take place before the Mass from 11:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. at Saint Francis Xavier Catholic Church.
