Janet Sue Florence

Janet Sue Florence, 49, of Leavenworth, KS passed away August 25, 2012. She was born December 22, 1962 in Kansas City, Kansas the daughter of James and Nancy Witten.

Janet married Martin Florence on March 21, 1981 in Leavenworth, KS.

Janet leaves her husband Martin, one daughter Jamie Shomaker, two sons Michael Florence and Marcus Florence, and one grandchild, her mother Nancy Witten, and her sister Nancy Meyer. She was preceded in death by her son Matthew Florence and her father James Witten.

Janet was a correctional officer at Lansing Correctional Facility. Janet operated the Safe Harbor Prison Dog Program at LCF. Janet was involved in Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, Local 3371 AFSME and Wallula Christian Church.

Visitation was held Tuesday, August 28th, 2012 from 6:00pm to 8:00pm at the Davis Funeral Chapel. The funeral service was Wednesday, August 29th, 2012 at 10:00 am at the Davis Funeral Chapel. Burial followed at the Glenwood Cemetery, Leavenworth County, Kansas.

The family requests memorials to the Safe Harbor Prison Dog Program.
