James Jones Obituary

James Patrick Jones

James Patrick "Jim" Jones, 63, Basehor, Kansas, passed away May 22, 2013 at Tonganoxie Nursing Center after a multi-year battle with cancer.

Jim was born July 25, 1949, the son of Gertus H. and Geraldine Jones. He was a 1967 graduate of Tonganoxie High School and then an over-the-road trucker, driving for Schwerman, Groendyke and Werner Truck Lines, receiving his gold buckle for 1,000,000 accident-free miles. He also worked for Hercules, Inc at the Sunflower Army Ammunition plant. He enjoyed the outdoors, especially fishing, hunting and golf.

Jim was preceded in death by his father, Gertus H. Jones in 2000. Survivors include his children: Lori Anderson (Mike), Gardner, KS; Brian Jones (Tiffany), Topeka, KS; and Angie Meyer (Jay), Spring Hill, KS. He is also survived by seven grandchildren: Jakob and Katy Anderson; Tandon, Trindon and Braelyn Jones; and Hailey and Jackson Meyer. Also surviving are his mother, Geraldine Jones, Piper, KS; two sisters, Judy Mock (Gary), Oskaloosa, KS; and Becky Hill (Danny), Doniphan, MO; and two brothers, Dan Jones (Sherrie), Piper, KS; and Robin Jones (Cindy), Tonganoxie, KS.

Memorial services will be Thursday, May 30th at 7:00 p.m. at Tonganoxie Christian Church. Friends may call from 6:00 p.m. to service time at the church.

Memorial gifts can be made to Tonganoxie Christian Church or Grace Hospice, through Tonganoxie Christian Church.
