Becky and Carter family , we were greatly saddened when hearing of Ed's death. I just visited Kansas City and so wish we had known last year of his passing. Glenn and I would have come to his funeral. We will never forget when Ed was Mayor, and he burst into our house in an orange wig on Halloween! So hysterical. Love you all, and glad that you have so many grand children and great grandchildren. Vicki and Glenn West, Austin, Tx.

Dear Carter Family, I have so many incredible memories of Ed. From our bball games Kayla, to LCC golf tourneys and drinks on the patio at 23rd street brewery. He was a pillar of Lawrence for years and a wonderful role model. Through good times and bad, Ed and Becky stood strong together. We will all miss you Ed - you are in a better place with your son and grandson.

I wish I had a tape recorder going the night regaled me with tales of his days as city commissioner. Hilarious and so well-told. I hate losing golf matches, but if I had not been matched against him that night, I never would have heard the stories, so I was never so happy to lose a golf match.
Such a warm, friendly man. Always smiling and making others around him do the same.

To Becky and the Carter family,
We are so sorry for your loss. We will always remember that great fun person that Ed was. Anyone one who met Ed had to like him. He excelled in life and on the football field. Ed is a very special person in our hearts as I'm sure he is in many others.
God bless the Carter family.
With love Gary and Alex Murkin
