E. Seavey Bowdoin Obituary

E. Seavey Bowdoin of Lynnfield passed away on July 5, 2016. He was the beloved husband of the late Shirley (Widdowson) Bowdoin. Devoted father of E. Seavey Bowdoin Jr., Ann Bowdoin and Sally Bowdoin and her husband John Arruda. Cherished grandfather of Jennifer Bowdoin and E. Seavey Bowdoin III. Dear brother of David Bowdoin, Richard Bowdoin, Ann Greenly and John Bowdoin. Seavey was the loving son of Charles Bowdoin and Jenny (Burnham) Bowdoin. Seavey grew up in Kennebunk, Maine and graduated from Bowdoin College in 1942. He remained a fierce member of the Bowdoin College Old Guard until his passing. Seavey was an active member of the Massachusetts Bar Association since 1949, and practiced law into his 90s. He was a long time resident of Lynnfield where he served on the Board of Trustees for the Public Library for 30 years while also being a long standing and very active member of the Centre Congregational Church. Seavey loved his family, books, art, film, music, golf and a good scotch now and then. A reception with light refreshments will be held from 5PM-7PM, as well as a Memorial Service ("Celebration of Life") from 7PM-8PM at the Centre Congregational Church, 5 Summer Street Lynnfield, MA on Thursday July 14th. The family plans to have a private burial ceremony in Kennebunk, Maine later in the summer. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Centre Congregational Church are encouraged.
