Donald Hobson Obituary
Donnie graduated from Baldwin City High School in 1979. He attended Baker University. As a youth, he raised pigeons and rabbits for 4-H projects. In school, he participated in basketball, football, and baseball. His love for sports and animals continued throughout his life, he enjoyed softball, bowling, and spending time with his teammates. His favorite pastimes included spending time with his pets; prairie dogs, Pandora, Ginger, and Butters and his groundhog, Porkchop. Donnie loved to garden, creating beautiful vegetable and flower gardens. He used his creative abilities to draw and arranging displays for the antique booths he and Jason operated. Donnie worked at Home Depot (Las Vegas); Henhouse and Hobby Lobby (Overland Park) and volunteered at St. Jude's Thrift Shop.
He is survived by his partner, Jason Mize; his sisters Marty Rubottom (Jim) and Bonnie Dase (John); nephews, Casey Rubottom and John Dase II (Natalie); nieces Tabatha Langland (Jason) and Katie Corkle (John), and grand nephews and niece. He was preceded in death by his parents, Gene and Phyllis Hobson. Services: 1:00 visitation and 1:30 service, Friday, March 31st, at Ives Chapel United Methodist Church in Baldwin City, Kansas. So sorry to hear about Donnie. I have great memories playing softball with him. He was always upbeat with a smile on his face. I am a better person for knowing him.

My sincerest condolences to Donnie' s family. He was a great friend to me for many years and I have so many fun memories of our time together. I always marveled at his enthusiasm and energy for life. And he also had a great ability to find the humor in any situation. I have and will miss him very much.
