Darrell Elliott Obituary

Darrell D. Elliott passed away on the afternoon of July 15, 2022 doing what he loved, with people that he loved. Darrell was born on February 1, 1940 in Chanute, Kansas, son to George and Velma Elliott. Darrell graduated from Washington High School in Kansas City, KS. He met Judy, the love of his life and wife of 60 years at the Grinter Chapel Church.

He started his work career in the family bakery in Shawnee, KS. As his family grew, he began working as a carpenter and worked as a carpenter for 30+ years. His carpentry skills were exceptional, and he left his mark on many buildings in the Kansas City area as well as the houses that he remodeled and built for his family and friends.

Darrell loved his family. He was a loyal, committed family man. He attended all that he could of his children's and grandchildren's football, volleyball, basketball, baseball, soccer, golf and dance and clapped the loudest. He showed his love through support. He didn't tell his family how to live, he showed them.

Darrell's hobbies were working on cars, playing cards with the card group, and building anything he could. His pie making abilities were put to good use at many family gatherings. He did enjoy traveling as long as it was by car and he was driving.

Darrell was a man after God's heart. His favorite bible verse was, "Unless the Lord builds the house, the builders labor in vain. Unless the Lord watches over the city, the guards stand watch in vain. In vain you rise early and stay up late, toiling for food to eat – for he grants sleep to those he loves. Children are a heritage from the Lord, offspring a reward from him. Like arrows in the hands of a warrior are children born in one's youth. Blessed is the man whose quiver is full of them", Psalms 127:1-6

He is survived by his wife of 60 almost 61 years, Judy, one son Craig (Emily), Kristi (Ken) Darla (Daryl) and Joy (Justin), 15 grandkids and 11 great grandkids. He is preceded in death by his brother Gene. Survived by his sister, Carlene and his younger brother Jim. Although we all know you were called for a higher purpose, we will all miss you greatly.

Judy and loved ones, words that were once shared long ago by a family member of mine, helped me when in most need, hoping these words will also give you some comfort: "I rest in the knowledge that God is in charge, I relax, I let go, I let his good come forth!" Love and blessings to all! Carma Glas
