Brian William Schmidt

A Mass of Christian Burial for Brian William Schmidt, 53, Lawrence will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, May 13, 2013 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. Burial will follow in Mount Calvary Cemetery. He died May 7, 2013 at his home.

He was born April 24, 1960 in Phillipsburg, KS the son of Raymond and Cora (Herrman) Schmidt.

Mr. Schmidt attended Schwegler Elementary School and graduated from Lawrence High School in 1978. He briefly attended Kansas University.

Mr. Schmidt was employed by Medicalodges Eudora, A.B. Coker and Sons, and in later years was the primary caregiver for his father.

Mr. Schmidt is survived by his sister, Raemona "Rae Lynn" Webb, her husband, Daryl, Lawrence; brother, Barron Schmidt, Wichita, KS; uncle, Marvin Baker; two nephews Michael Schmidt, John Schmidt; and two nieces, Tammy LeeAnn Swope, and Emily Schmidt.

The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service at 1 p.m. at the church.

The family suggests memorials in his name to the American Heart Association or Bert Nash Community Mental Health Center and may be sent in care of the mortuary.

Brian was like a brother to my husband. They loved to sit and visit. Brian was always appreciative when we invited him over for dinner. He will be greatly missed.
