Benjamin Ortiz Obituary

Benjamin Ortiz, Jr. passed away peacefully in his sleep with his wife and dog by his side at the age of 56 on January 16th, 2025. Ben had a lifelong passion for music that began at an early age and touched every part of him, and everyone in his life. He was driven by his eclectic tastes in music, food, yo-yos, stacking bracelets, coffees, teas, and collecting new hobbies. He had his very particular way of things that was uniquely Ben. Ben is survived by his wife of 36 years, Jeanie Lorene Finney Ortiz, his son Benjamin Daniel Ortiz, his daughter Danielle Sierre Ortiz, his mother Marion Marlyn Ortiz, father, Benjamin Ortiz Sr., sisters; Rebecca West (John West III), Diana Ortiz ; along with several nieces and great nephews and his lifelong best friend Robert Kraai.

Ben joins his son Robert Edward Issak Ortiz, his brother Daniel Ortiz , Niece Kristen Nichole Wheeler and Nephew Billy Luke Mainord in peace. His celebration of life will be held on February 22nd, 2025 at the Lawrence Union Pacific Depot, N 2nd St Lawrence KS; In the Theater Room, from 3pm-5pm.

He will be greatly missed.
