Ann Morgan Guilbert Obituary

Ann Morgan Guilbert, the actress who played Millie Helper on “The Dick Van Dyke Show,” has died at the age of 87, according to multiple news sources.

She died of cancer in Los Angeles on Tuesday, her daughter Nora Eckstein said.

Guilbert was born Oct. 16, 1928, in Minneapolis, Minnesota. She studied theater arts at Stanford University.

She is best known for her beloved role as the next door neighbor and best friend of Laura Petrie, played by Mary Tyler Moore, on the 1960s classic sitcom, “The Dick Van Dyke Show.” She appeared on 61 episodes of the show.

In the 1990s, she had a notable supporting role as Fran Fine’s feisty grandmother on the sitcom, “The Nanny.” Other television appearances by Guilbert include “Seinfeld,” “Curb Your Enthusiasm,” and “That Girl.”

S he also had roles in films including “Grumpier Old Men,” and as recently as 2010 she appeared in the movie “Please Give.”

She is survived by two daughters, Nora Eckstein and actress Hallie Todd.
