Helen Reynolds Bennett
November 29, 2025
My 91 year old mother, Irene Reynolds remembers working with Angie to form sausage patties for the Lone Star Brethren Church's Pancake Feed in the early 1960s. Irene was glad to hear they have since bought the sausage already in patties. Angie was still recruiting Irene to attend the annual event in 2023; their affections for each other maintained for decades even when Irene's family changed their attendance to a Lawrence church.
I, Helen Reynolds Bennett born in 1960 remember seeing Mrs. Fishburn standing at the front and to the side of the Lone Star Church leading the congregation in singing: the large hymn numbers written in chalk just behind her. I am not sure but I think it was a cappella, before they had a piano.
Alvin, my mother and I know you are sorely missing the love of your life, but we also know you'll see her again - organizing a Pancake Feed in heaven and leading the saints in song!

My brother Marty (1/2 mile from the church) and sister Linda (Nebraska) let me know about Mrs. Fishburn´s death. Mrs. Fishburn, not Angie, to show respect for an excellent teacher in a one-room school, like our mom. May she rest in peace. With 41 great grandchildren, she surely must need some rest. What a lovely life.
