Alice R. Akin

Funeral services for Alice R. Akin, 84, Lawrence will be 2pm. Mon., Aug. 27, at Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home with Pastor Mitch Todd officiating. Entombment will be private at Memorial Park Cemetery. Mrs. Akin died Friday at St. Luke's Hospital.

She was born Mar. 30, 1928 in Dinwiddie County, Virginia the daughter of William and Cora Bell Jolly Carraway.

Mrs. Akin worked as a RN for Dr. Brunfeldt at Reed Medical Group for many years. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, and several bridge clubs.

She married Ray Nelson Akin on May 23, 1953 in Stony Creek, VA., he died Apr. 3, 1996. She was also preceded in death by 3 sisters and 1 brother.

Survivors include a son Gary N. Akin of Hunting Beach, CA, daughter Kristi L. Akin of Eudora, and 2 grandsons Ryan & Spencer Akin.

Friends may call Sunday 3pm. to 8pm. at the funeral home where the family will receive friends from 1pm. until service time Monday.

Memorials may be made to the First Methodist Church in care of the Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home, 601 Indiana, Lawrence, KS 66044
