William Anders Obituary

William "Bill" Anders, 89, of West Deer Township, passed peacefully on Sunday, March 29, 2026, surrounded by his family. He was born Oct. 12, 1936, in New York City, NY. He served six years in the U.S. Air Force: four years in Europe and two years with the Joint Chiefs at the Pentagon. Upon his return to civilian life, Bill embarked on a long and successful career in the IT industry in Pittsburgh. His IT work culminated in several years as the vice president of MIS at Harmarville Rehabilitation Center (now Encompass Health). Bill was very proud to retire at the age of 56, although he loved his work and thus opted to start his own IT consulting company, which he enjoyed for another 10+ years. In addition to his IT work, Bill loved taking care of his family, boating, golfing, warm weather, and working on projects at home of which there was always another he added to his plate. He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Shirley (Reis) Anders; his children, David (Cynthia) Anders, Susan (Dennis) Lefler, and Daniel (Karin) Anders; grandchildren, David Jr. (Loni), Dennis (Lais), Ryan (Tori), Jessica, Teagan, and Jaclyn; and great-grandchildren, Alysha, Gabriella, and Isabella. In addition to his parents and sister, he was preceded in death by his beloved dog, Buddy. Bill's family will welcome friends from 3 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, April 7, 2026, at KING FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES INC., 2841 Woodland Circle in Allison Park, PA. A funeral service will be held at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, April 7, at KING FUNERAL HOME, with Pastor Daniel Smail officiating.
