Stephen Baksis Obituary
Stephen Joseph Baksis, born in 1949, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 3, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. A Vietnam veteran who served honorably with the U.S. Army, Stephen lived his life with strength, loyalty, and deep devotion to those he loved. Stephen was married to his beloved wife, Barbara, for 53 years. He cherished time spent with his family, especially his grandchildren, who brought endless joy to his life. He enjoyed riding motorcycles with his two sons, creating many special memories together. A true outdoorsman, he found peace in hunting and fishing and took pride in his passion for bowling, where his dedication earned him induction into the Bowling Hall of Fame. Stephen worked at the VA Hospital in Pittsburgh, where he retired after 35 years. A devoted member of Mount Saint Peter Parish, Stephen faithfully served as an usher for many years, always greeting others with warmth and kindness. He was preceded in death by his mother, Stella Grouth; and his father, Stephen Baksis. He is survived by his children, Stephen R. Baksis; and daughter-in-law, Crystal L. Baksis, and Michael D. Baksis. Stephen also leaves behind his cherished grandchildren, Stephen M. Baksis (married to Brianna Baksis), Reaghan Baksis, and Michael Baksi; as well as his precious great-granddaughter, Madalena Baksis. His legacy of kindness, humor, and dedication will continue to live on through his family and all those whose lives he touched. Stephen will be remembered with love and great admiration by all who knew him. Friends and family will be received from 2 to 6 p.m., Tuesday, April 7, 2026, at GIUNTA-BERTUCCI FUNERAL HOME, 1509 Fifth Ave., Arnold, JohnPaul Bertucci, Owner/Supervisor. Prayers of transfer will be held at 9:30 a.m., Wednesday, April 8, 2026, in the funeral home, followed by a Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. at Mount Saint Peter Roman Catholic Church, New Kensington. Burial will follow at Greenwood Memorial Park, Lower Burrell.
