Patrick Roche Obituary

Patrick Edward "Ed" Roche, 85, of West Deer Township, died on Saturday, March 28, 2026, at his home, with his loving family by his side. Ed was born on June 18, 1940, in Pittsburgh, to the late Edward Patrick and Margaret (Gibson) Roche. He grew up in and lived in the East Liberty section of Pittsburgh, attending Westinghouse High School. Following high school, Ed enlisted in the U.S. Army, serving six years, then served in the Army Reserve for an additional 10 years. Following his discharge from the Army, Ed enlisted in the Navy Reserves, serving for an additional 10 years and serving his country for over 26 years. While serving in the reserves, Ed was employed at Ryerson Steel as an overhead crane operator, working for them for over 36 years. Ed loved going to the casino, watching Pittsburgh Steelers football with family, and vacationing in Florida, though he especially loved family times with his children and grandchildren. Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Marlene L. (Tedesco) Roche; his daughters, Dawn M. Weiss of Indiana and Sherrie L. Troff and her fiance, Jeff Widdowfield, from New Castle; his grandchildren, Christopher (Amber) Fabec of Delmont, Nicolena Weiss and her fiance, Greg Garbera, of New Ken, Gino Troff of Greensburg, and Brendan Weiss of New Ken; his great-granddaughters, Cali, Riley, and Hailey; as well as his nephew, Mike Gibbons, of NC. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Patricia Gibbons. Friends will be received from 1 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday, March 31, 2026, and Wednesday, April 1, 2026, at SIWICKI-YANICKO FUNERAL HOME, 23 McKrell Road, Russellton, West Deer, where a blessing service will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Thursday, April 2, 2026, with the Rev. James P. Holland officiating. Following this, he will be buried with full military honors in Lakewood Memorial Gardens, Indiana Township.
