John Petrisin Obituary

John Petrisin, Jr., 85, passed away peacefully on October 31, 2024. He was born September 30, 1939, in Mt. Pleasant, the son of the late John Petrisin and Edythe Cook Riley Petrisin Evans Cook. John was a proud graduate of Scottdale High School's Class of 1958. His thirst for knowledge and commitment to his country led him to further his education at Robert Morris University in Moon Township before he answered the call of duty by enlisting in the U.S. Army. He was employed by U.S. Steel, Christy Park for 6 years and National Tube of McKeesport for 13 years as a laborer, holding various positions. John was also a Steward for the Scottdale Moose Lodge #194 for 16 years. He was a member of the National Rifle Association, the Scottdale VFW Post 7781, and the American Legion Post #240 of Scottdale for a number of years. His participation in these organizations reflected his deep love for his country and his unwavering support for the rights and recognition of his fellow servicemen and women. John was an avid pool player, John's competitive spirit and skill led him to win several trophies in various leagues throughout the years. His love for the game was only matched by the joy he took in sharing it with others, often being the source of laughter and camaraderie at the pool table. John is gone from our lives, but will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved him, His loving children, Dawnene Lynn Petrisin and John Thomas Petrisin-Connolly and wife Lisa, his siblings, Katherine Pritchard of Scottdale, Edythe Freno and husband Kenneth, of Charlotte, N.C., Evelyn Ronco and husband Brad, of Indianapolis, IN., Chuck Cook and wife, Bambi, of Owensdale, Jeanne Ruth Tartal of North Carolina, Bill Cook and wife Nancy of Akron, OH, Cora Lee Zimmerman and husband Don, of Scottdale and a number of beloved grandchildren, nieces, and nephews In addition to his parents, John was also preceded in death by his stepfathers: Harry Evans, and Clarence Cook and brother-in-law, Frank Tartal.
