Vincent Santarel Obituary

Vincent M. Santarel, 87, of Everson, passed away on Friday, Jan. 24, 2025. He was born March 7, 1937, in Mount Pleasant, a son of the late Vincent J. and Victoria (Kusiak) Santarel. Vinnie, as he was known to many, served as a bailiff for the Fayette County Courts. He had previously been employed by the Fruehauf Company. A member of the Partner Parish of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Scottdale, he was a longtime usher and a 4th-degree member of the Knights of Columbus Fr. Lambing Council. He was a member of the Everson Volunteer Fire Company with 64 years' service, where he served as past chief and past president, and in a number of other offices. He was also a member of the PA State Fireman's Association and the Fayette County Fireman's Association. Vinnie also held memberships in several local social clubs, and he always enjoyed going to the casino. He had a big personality, a quick wit and was a gentle giant. You always knew when he was in the room and when he was leaving. His famous exit line was 'I ain't coming back!' Vinnie is survived by his devoted daughters, Michele Horan and her companion, Todd Henderson, Sharee Keffer and her husband, Dave; a grandson, Vincent Keffer (Morgan); a step grandson, Brian Ritch; and three step great-grandchildren, Aubrey, Landon, and Braxton; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, D. Jean Santarel. Family and friends are welcome from 6 to 8 p.m., on Thursday, and from 4 to 8 p.m., on Friday, at GRAFT-JACQUILLARD FUNERAL AND CREMATION SERVICES, INC., 303 Pittsburgh St., Scottdale, where parting prayers will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, followed by his Funeral Mass at 10 a.m., in St. John the Baptist RC Church, Scottdale. Interment will follow in St. John's Cemetery. The Everson VFC will conduct a memorial service at 7:30 p.m., on Friday, in the funeral home.
