Frances Stone Obituary

Frances Lorenda Stone, of Boardman, OH, passed away on Dec. 13, 2024, at the age of 91. Born in Eureka, CA, a daughter of the late Archie and Jessie Highley Bunch. Frances was a dedicated American Baptist since she was 16 years old, demonstrating her faith through active participation in her church community. She served honorably on the Board of General Ministries of the American Baptist Church in the United States, enriching the lives of many through her commitment to service. Her tireless efforts continued as she engaged with the Baptist Women's Mission, where she made significant contributions at the local, association, regional, and national levels. As a homemaker, Frances devoted herself wholeheartedly to raising her children. Her nurturing spirit was evident in the care she provided to her family and her unwavering support for their aspirations. Frances was also a talented artisan, finding joy in quilting and knitting. She was a proud member of the Fiberarts Guild and Quilt Company East of Pittsburgh, where she shared her skills and generosity, crafting beautiful pieces for charitable causes. Her love of crafting matched her adventurous spirit, as she traveled to 49 states, each journey deepening her appreciation for the tapestry of life around her. Frances will be remembered for her warmth, kindness, and the legacy of love she instilled in her family. She is survived by her devoted children, who carry forward her spirit and values. Frances is survived by her children, CCW Sparks, of Phoenixville, Terry (Vickie) Harper-Cridlebaugh, of Samson, AL, Susan Layne, of Monroeville, Bruce S. (Paula Tuttle) Cridlebaugh, of Westview, Timothy E. (Kris Long) Stone, of Mercer, OH, and Daniel (Kristina) Stone, of Austintown, OH; grandchildren, Gary (Deana) Weinheimer, Bruce T. Cridlebaugh, Megan Kunkle, Christie (Justin Hice) Copper, Lorenda (Matt Niblack) Layne, Sean Layne, Kathleen Cridlebaugh, Erin Cridlebaugh, Kevin Cridlebaugh, Nathaniel Stone, Wyatt Stone, Katherine Stone, and Miranda (Austin Echard) Stone; and great-grandchildren, Amalia, Sabrina, Lydia, Evelyna, Maggielynn, Emmett, and Jocelyn. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Rev. Clyde E. Cridlebaugh, whom she married Feb. 3, 1952, and passed away in 2009; her second husband, Rev. David C. Stone, whom she married Jan. 9, 2010, and passed away in 2016; and her brother, Archie C. Bunch. Interment was private on Dec. 19, 2024, in Monroeville. A Memorial Service will be held at 11 a.m. on March 29, 2025, at Calvary Baptist Church, followed by a luncheon. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the following: International Ministries, 1003 West Ninth Ave., Suite A, King of Prussia, PA 19406, or a charity of your choice. Professional arrangements are being handled by HIGGINS-REARDON FUNERAL HOMES, BOARDMAN-CANFIELD CHAPEL.
