Gene Grimes Obituary

Funeral services for Carl "Gene" Eugene Grimes, age 82 of Trezevant, will take place at 2:00 PM Wednesday, January 14, 2026, at the Bodkin Funeral Home with burial to follow in the Mt. Zion Cemetery in Medina. Visitation with the family will take place Wednesday from 11:00 AM until service time at the funeral home.
Gene was born on February 23, 1943, in Linden, TN, to the late William Henry Grimes and Mary Ellen Barber Grimes. He passed away on January 11, 2026, at his home in Trezevant. Gene was a member of Poplar Springs Missionary Baptist Church in Atwood. He served in the Army National Guard for 10 years. Gene worked at Gaines in McKenzie for several years.

Wife - Mary Ann Grimes of Trezevant
Son - Troy Eugene Grimes and wife Judy of Trezevant
Daughters - Dana Simmons and husband Anthony of Trezevant, and Denise Bates and husband Brian of Trenton
Grandchildren - Briann Black (John), Cody Rimmer, Serena Burkhead (Bobby), Deanna Bates, Troy Grimes, Jr, and Dominic Grimes
Great-Grandchildren - Merideth Rimmer Walden and Layna Church
Besides his parents, Gene is preceded in death by 4 brothers and a great granddaughter, Liza Kay Black.
