Ronald Custer Obituary

Ronald Eugene Custer

December 2, 1945 – February 22, 2025

Ron's family came to Grass Valley, CA from Iowa in 1951. They lived in a miner's shack on property known today as Custer's Corner on Greenhorn Rd. His early life experiences building the family home from old building scrap shaped his character of resilience, determination, and imaginative creativity.

Ron became a master at auto body repair and artistic paint jobs. He was proud to be one of the original five founders of the Roamin Angels classic car club.

Ordained a minister of Christ in 1992, Ron founded Roadside Ministries with his wife Pam, using his mechanic and contractor skills to help small ministries throughout the West.

Ron's legacy is one of gently guiding people by example out of their brokenness into the glorious light of the Kingdom of God. Orphans and widows were especially dear to his heart.

He was the very best husband, dad, grandpa, great-grandpa, mentor, and friend a person could ever hope for. Ron is survived by his wife, Pam, five children, seventeen grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

He always had a kind word to say, no matter the circumstance. He loved the word of God, and enjoyed teaching it to all who would lead an ear. Going to miss you my dear friend Christine Hernandez
