James Gabriel Vierling passed away peacefully on January 9, 2025 at his home in Nevada City, California.

James was born in St. Paul, Minnesota on November 1st, 1930, and in his late '20s moved to San Francisco, California for a new life where he went on to found 'The Flying Dutchman', a successful parking company. After retiring in 2008, he settled in Nevada City, where he embraced the tranquility of his mountain home with his life-partner, Genevieve.

A man of many talents and passions, James studied music at the University of Minnesota and was a classical composer and musician who found joy in creating and sharing music. He was also an avid reader with a personal library of over 10,000 books, reflecting his lifelong love of learning. His deep appreciation for nature was evident in the way he cherished his forested land.

James is survived by his beloved wife, Genevieve, his children Mark Becker, Gregory Becker, Michael Vierling, Danielle Vierling, Benjamin Vierling, and Rose Vierling-Koukareko, his younger brother, Paul Vierling in Minnesota, eleven grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren. His legacy lives on through the love and memories shared by his family and all who knew him. Following cremation, James' family held a private ceremony to honor his life below the home he so deeply loved. May his memory bring comfort to those who knew him.
