James Shelton Obituary
February 25, 1933 to June 13, 2024
Jimmy passed away at his home in Carmichael CA. with his family at his side. He was 91 years old.
He was preceded in death by his brother Bill and his parents Alton and Mildred Shelton.
After grammar school in Ashland CA. his family purchased the popular resort, Lake Olympia and moved to Grass Valley. The resort was complete with a roller skating rink, pool with a 35ft high dive, restaurant, bar and dance hall. That summer he was 12 and it was like a dream.
After leaving the lake, he and his mother remained in Grass Valley until he enlisted in the army. He honorably served 18 months in Korea and returned home to marry his high school sweetheart Janice Rice.
They moved to Carmichael CA. and began his career at Aerojet as a liaison engineer from 1955 to 1992 and enjoyed watching his family grow.
He is survived by his wife of 69 years and 3 children: Mark, Todd and Erin King. 4 grandchildren: Leslie Randall, Erick Shelton, Olivia Escobar and Hyde King and 4 great grand children.
Jimmy was a kind and loving husband and father.
We will all miss him forever.
Graveside services will be conducted
Tuesday, July 2 2024 at 10am
Greenwood Memorial Garden
