Guy Warren Obituary
Guy Eugene Warren
May 30, 1934 – October 8, 2024
Guy "Gene" Warren passed away peacefully on October 8, 2024 at the age of 90. Guy's love of life and his love for his family and friends knows no bounds. He was a great mentor to many young men and women and was respected by all.
Guy's interest in sports began at an early age in Long Beach, California where he was born. He would throw a ball against a building for hours and catch it as it bounced back to him. He had a pony for a short time and spent hours swimming in the YMCA and in the ocean. He spent 2 years in a Military School in uniform and was so grateful to his Father, Guy Ellsworth Warren, when the family moved to Grass Valley in 1945.
His love of sports blossomed and his skills improved. He was well known for his athletic excellence in football, basketball and baseball and played for Grass Valley High School, Sierra College and the United States Army in Germany. He was an Eagle Scout and is an inductee in the Nevada Union High School Hall of Fame. He also had a beautiful tenor voice and as a young boy sang with the Cornish Choir in Grass Valley. He sang in the high school choir and played the saxophone in the band. Later, he sang in the River City Chorale and enjoyed their tours to Canada, Brazil, France and a riverboat cruise on the Rheine. He was a member of the First Congregational Church of Auburn and sang in the Church choir for 48 years.
Family, Church, sports, basketball, softball and golf, music, home and ranch maintenance and travel kept Guy busy as he raised his children while he worked at Aerojet for 42 years. He greatly enjoyed his many international trips and also his travels in the United States.
His devotion, support and his love for his children was evident every day of his life. He loved being with them, talking to them, learning from them and offering his wisdom and guidance. He is survived by his wife Sandi Warren, Daughters Julie Webber, Cindy Baer (Brad), Mark Freddi, seven Grandchildren, two Great Grandchildren, Brother-in-Law Sheldon Tyler (Jackie), two nieces, and two nephews and their families.
Guy leaves behind a world made better by his presence.
