Allene Medlyn Obituary
July 31, 1936 – January 19, 2025
Allene Medlyn passed away surrounded by her family on Sunday, January 19, 2025 in Grass Valley, CA. She was 88.
Allene was born on July 31, 1936 in Stockton, CA to James Allen and Violet Johnson. She met Ernest Medlyn in 1953 while they both worked at the Forest Lodge in Greenville, CA.
They married on August 8, 1954 in Marysville, CA and remained lovingly married for almost 50 years. They moved to Grass Valley shortly after they married.
Throughout Allene's life, she was a dedicated mother to her five children and she also worked for several local businesses over the years, including Sears, Peters' Pump and Drilling and The Beam Center.
Allene will be remembered for her gentle and loving nature. Rocking each and every new grandbaby and great-grandbaby was one of Allene's greatest joys. Allene also loved tending to her beautiful yard, where many happy family gatherings from bbqs to weddings took place. Allene was an avid game player who loved game nights of bridge, Bunco, or cards with family and friends.
Allene is survived by daughter Mary Anthney Tripp of Grass Valley; son Bill (Teresa) Medlyn of Weiser, ID; son Robert (Julie) Medlyn of Grass Valley; daughter Mindy (Mike) McGinnis of Weiser, ID; and son Steven Medlyn of Folsom, CA; 15 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband Ernest George Medlyn.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, April 5, 2025 from 11:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. at 104 Lidster Ave., Grass Valley.
Allene's family respectfully requests that memorial contributions be made to Hospice of the Foothills in lieu of flowers.

Allene and Ernie were neighbors on Sunset Ave.
They were nice people
When I was a boy I would ask if I could swim in there Pool and they always let me .lots of good memories from them . Saddened by her passing.
