Luther Giles Vernon, Jr.

May 23, 1931 - October 12, 2024

Luther Giles Vernon, Jr., 93, of Danville, Virginia, passed away on Saturday, October 12, 2024.

Luther was born on May 23, 1931, the son of the late Luther Giles Vernon, Sr., and Roberta Winnie Agee Vernon. He spent his life in Danville Virginia, where he worked as a painter, particularly for Clyde Bailey for 10 years. He attended Mount Vernon United Methodist Church. In his free time, he enjoyed hunting and fishing with his son-in-law.

Luther is survived by his son, James Vernon (Wanda), his daughter, Anne Marie Vernon, his grandchildren, Ryan, Randall, and Shanna Atkins, his son-in-law, Win Atkins, and his brother, Randy Atkins.

In addition to his parents, Luther is predeceased by his wife, Kathleen Marie Robinson Vernon, who passed away on February 12, 2022, and a special 2nd cousin, Royce Agee.

A graveside service will be held on Friday, October 18, 2024, at 11:00 AM at Highland Burial Park.
