SCHENECTADY - Jenise L. Sutherland, 77, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 10, 2025.
She was born in Albany, on November 25, 1947, a daughter of the late Jay K. and Eleanor (Ertel) Smith.
Jenise attended local schools in Albany.
She was employed for many years with the NYS Dept. of Taxation and Finance in Albany, until her retirement. She was a lifelong resident of Albany until she and her late husband, Jeal, relocated to Myrtle Beach, S.C., in 2008, following her retirement. She returned to Albany following her husband's passing in 2016.
Jenise was a nature lover enjoying trips to Maine and Myrtle Beach. She also enjoyed camping, vegetable gardening, covered bridges and absolutely loved birdwatching.
She was predeceased by her husband, Jeal, in 2016.
Jenise is survived by her sons, Joseph (Monica Brown) and Jeal Sutherland, Jr.; five grandchildren, Leah and Corinne Sutherland and Bobby, Stephen and Michael Bikowitz; her siblings, Sandra and Richard Smith; half-siblings, Sue and Jay; and several nieces and nephews.

Visiting hours will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., on Tuesday, February 18, 2025. at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie, N.Y. 12205. A graveside service will be held on Friday, April 11, 2025, at Memory Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made in Jenise's honor to any Nature or Wildlife charity of choice.
