Bryon Custer Obituary

BRYSON CITY - Byron F. Custer, 73, of Ocala, Florida, passed away suddenly and unexpectedly Thursday, Feb. 6, 2025, while he was at a care facility in Lenoir.
Byron Custer had his residence in Bryson City, for some years now and sometimes spent his winters in sunny Florida. He was born in Akron, Ohio in 1951, to the late Linwood and Avis Custer. As he grew up there he developed an avid interest in trains, which he pursued later to take many train trips and formerly had elaborate model trains at his home in Florida. Byron married Diana Lynn Muller in 1975, and they raised their family together in Florida until 2013.
Staying in his camper at the Ridge Top Camp Ground in Bryson City, Byron enjoyed the opportunity to see the Smokey Mountain Railroad train quite often, as he tooled around in his van with his two little puppy dogs. Sadly his health began to fail, so his friends would sometimes take him to see the train. About a year ago, his health took a turn for the worse and he ended up in the nursing home.
Byron was predeceased by his older brother, James. He is survived by his daughters, Jennifer, Christina, Anne-Marie and Courtney and their children, all living in Florida; sisters, Patricia, Deanna and Jeanette in Ohio. Byron is also survived by and always regretted losing his beloved ex-wife, Diana.
Funeral services will be prepared by the Sylva Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses, to be announced.
