Peggy Sobieck Obituary

Peggy Lou Sobieck, 77, of Grovertown, Indiana, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 3, 2025, attended by her family. She was born on May 27, 1947, the eldest child to the late Earl and Ruth (Glass) Goze. Peggy spent most of her life in the Grovertown area and enjoyed a fulfilling career as the Recreation Director at Jellystone Campground in Plymouth before retiring. A loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, she was married to the love of her life, James (Jake) Sobieck Sr., on June 12, 1965. Jake preceded her in death. Peggy had a kind heart and a zest for life, sharing her talents with others in many ways. She volunteered at Starke County Head Start in Knox and had a deep love for children, which was evident in the way her face would light up whenever her grandchildren entered the room. She was an avid gardener who found joy in tending to her flowers, a talented painter, and a wonderfully crafty soul. Peggy is survived by her daughter, Cindy (Aaron) Davis; her sons, James Sobieck Jr., Randall Sobieck, and Thomas (Angela) Sobieck; eleven grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; her sisters, Linda Knight, Susan Price, and Debra Garrison; and her brother, John Goze. She was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband, and her daughter, Joan Yvonne Sobieck. A visitation will be held on Saturday, March 15, 2025, from Noon to 2 p.m. EST at Rannells Funeral Home, Koontz Lake Chapel, with funeral services to follow at 2 p.m. EST. Burial at Grovertown Cemetery will occur at a later date. ALL SERVICE TIMES ARE LISTED IN EASTERN TIME. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Peggy's memory to a charity of your choice. Peggy's warmth, generosity, and devotion to her family will be deeply missed, and she will forever hold a special place in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
