Dr. Lorraine Day Obituary

Beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend Dr. Lorraine Day, age 71, born in Montreal, Canada, died in Baton Rouge, Louisiana on April 21, 2024. She never met a person she didn't take under her wing and left an impression wherever she went. She was a member of St. Jude Catholic Church, an avid advocate of education and a graduate of LSU with a PhD in toxicology. She pursued her passions tirelessly and was the head of Radiation and Occupational Safety for LSU CAMD for 27 years before her retirement. She was a fellow of the National Health Physics Society as well as an active member of the Baton Rouge chapter of American Association of University Women. Lorraine is survived by her loving husband of 50 years, Donal F. Day of Baton Rouge, LA; her brother Gilles Marceau and sister-in-law Karen Marceau of St. Catharines, Ontario; her daughter Carolyn Day and son-in-law Matthew Cathey of Greenville, SC; her son Benjamin Day and her daughter-in-law Emily Day of Houston, TX and her beloved grandchildren Avalyn Day & Brennan Day of Houston, TX. A memorial service will be held Saturday, April 27, at Rabenhorst Funeral Home (Florida Blvd.). In lieu of flowers, the family would like contributions to be made to the AAUW to support higher education for women. Donations can be made at https://www.aauw.org/.

The Fiftieth Reunion of the Macdonald College Class of 1974 was this past weekend and we all had hoped Marie Lorraine Jacqueline Marceau aka "Lori Day" would be there. She left far more than "an impression" with all of us. Our hearts go out to her extended family* and friends.
* she often headed home on weekends because "family was visiting." I once asked her about it, and she replied her father was one of 22 and his father was one of 22.

How sorry I was to learn of Lorraine's passing! So Dedicated, and so helpful! CAMD was in safe hands during her time as Safety Officer! My job as Acting Director of CAMD was eased knowing the safety of our staff was in competent and caring hands!
Rest in Peace Lorraine!
Sincerely yours, Prof. David Ederer
