William Baltz Obituary
80, former General Manager of Treasure Island's Bilmar Beach Resort, passed away in St. Petersburg, FL on January 29, 2026.
Bill was raised in Grand Haven, MI. He completed high school at Admiral Farragut Academy and in 1967 graduated from Cornell University's School of Hotel Administration. He entered the US Army stationed in Germany. Upon honorable completion of his military service, he assumed management of the Bilmar Beach Resort. The hotel was built by his father Russ Baltz in 1961, and named for his children Bill and Margot.
Bill was an avid big game hunter, competitive target shooter, and a passionate collector of antique beer steins.He was an active member of American Legion 125 and Elks Club 1224. Bill was a member of Discover Florida Suncoast, Pinellas County Tourist Development Council, and Treasure Island Historical Club.
He is survived by his wife, Kelly; his sister, Margot; niece, Tonya; and his children, Ericka, Jason, and Heather; their spouses Dominick, Andrew, and Kristen; and three grandchildren, Aidan, Elias, and Nadia.
A celebration of his life will be held at the Bilmar beach bar on Friday, February 6 from 4 - 7 pm. To honor Bill's memory in lieu of flowers, donations to the Bay Pines VA Hospice Center are very appreciated.

May God bless you and your family in this time of sorrow. We knew Bill through our shooting club and often met for lunches at Acropol and at Hunter's shop just to hang out and share stories. Good memories.

Bill was my crew in the snipe midwinter championship in Clearwater in 1945. A great friend and my roommate at Farragut in 1946. Another of the "GOOD GUYS" is gone. Condolences to the family.

My family was part of the Bilmar tradition. Kitty Ferrentino was a beach bar regular, starting in the 60´s, the Grogg shop etc. I worked Dixieland with Debbie , Trudy and Annie.
Maurice, Sandy, Marty, just to name a few of the best bartenders ever.
When my mom passed, Bill gave my family the beach bar for her memorial get together. The Bilmar is where I stay when I come home. Condolences to the family that became our family. . Thanks for the years and the wonderful memories.
