Jack Getz, a proud retired U.S. Navy veteran, passed away peacefully at the age of 87 on Monday, October 21st. Jack dedicated his life to serving his country and his community. Jack enlisted in the Navy in 1955, serving for two decades with honor.
He worked as an electrician on three notable aircraft carriers: the USS Yorktown, USS Ranger, and USS America. His time in the Navy was marked by dedication, skill, and a deep sense of pride in his work. After retiring from the Navy, Jack lived in California for many years before returning to the Syracuse area in 2003. He carried the values of service and commitment into his civilian life.
Jack was predeceased by his first wife, Norma; his second wife, Deloris; son, Michael Getz; and sister, Carolyn.
Survivors include his wife of 21 years, Barbara Squairs Getz; daughter, Jackie (Jimmy) Johnson; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild; sister, Joan Powers; stepchildren, Debra (Don) Smith, Arnold (Nancy) Squairs, Mark (Mary) Squairs, Bill (Felicia) Squairs, and Linda (Bob) Harke; numerous step-grandchildren and step great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be private. FARONE & SON Inc Funeral Home is in care of arrangements.

So sad to see this. My mother was his aunt but they were only 1 yr apart in age & went to school together. She was surprised and saddened to see this as she tried for years to find him.
