Benjamin Swaim Obituary

Charlotte, North Carolina - Benjamin "Ben" C. Swaim, Jr., age 78, passed away on Sunday, January 5, 2025 after a short battle with cancer.
A native Charlottean, lifelong Tar Heel fan and Kenan-Flagler Business School graduate, Ben also liked to remind his family he "made all A's at NC State" while studying Textiles and Apparel. This kicked off his 30+ year career in yarn sales, eventually starting his own company, Clydesdale Textiles.
In his free time, Ben loved to play video games, watch television and listen to music - hobbies he shared with his daughter. He also enjoyed eating and was lucky enough to marry someone who loves to try out new recipes, always keeping him well-fed.
Ben is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Laura Swaim; his daughter of 37 years, Jordan Swaim Overington; son-in-law, Evan Overington; beloved granddaughter and fellow-lefty, Merritt Overington; and cherished cat, Teddy.
He will be remembered for his humor, ability to fill any silence, love of disco, "passionate" behavior during UNC basketball games, and for always reading the fabric label on every piece of clothing he came into contact with.
