Marjorie Marciano-Vere Obituary

Beloved wife, mother and grandmother, loyal friend
Marjorie Marciano-Vere died on March 21, 2025 at the age of 85 after a valiant 35-year battle with breast cancer. A native of Short Hills, NJ, Marge was a first-generation American, the daughter of Fritz and Gerda Goldmann.
She is survived by her husband, James Vere, her son, Dave Marciano, his wife Diane and their sons David and Landon, and her brother, Stephen F. Goldmann, as well as numerous cousins, nieces and nephews, and her former husband, Dr. Neil Marciano.

A graduate of the Millburn school system, Marge received a BA in Journalism from Syracuse University and a Masters in Counseling from Montclair State University. She had a varied career, starting with McGraw-Hill prior to her first marriage. She then committed herself to her family and pursuing her passion for late 19th and 20th century French art. After that marriage ended, she returned to the business world working for Smith Barney, Bankers Trust, and Roche.

Marge was extremely intelligent and eloquent and was loyal and loving to her friends and family. She retained ties to her friends from Millburn High School over more than 60 years. A devoted Episcopalian, she served her parish, St. Peter's in Essex Fells, in many roles including the choir and vestry. And she was a dedicated supporter of the Newark Museum, serving as a volunteer speaker and in their gift shop.

A Requiem Eucharist will be celebrated on Saturday, April 5 at 11 at St. Peter's Episcopal Church, 271 Roseland Avenue, Essex Fells 07012; a reception will follow.
