Marilyn Savran Obituary

Marilyn Savran, was born Marlyn Kohl in December of 1927 in Newark to David and Mollie Kohl. Marilyn attended Upsala College. In 1947, Marilyn married Manuel Savran, known to friends and family as Manny and soon after gave birth to two children, Judy and Michael. Marilyn lived in East Orange for the early part of her life, Linden for over 30 years until the 1990s, Edison until 2016 and then the Jewish Home of Bergen County. Marilyn was a substitute teacher and ran a candy business for over 30 years. Marilyn had many friends, was a past president of Bnai Brith Linden, and was a silver life master bridge player. Marilyn is predeceased by her husband Manny (1985) and son Michael Savran (2016). She is survived by her daughter Judy Zislin (husband Harry), grandsons David Zislin (wife Elena), Marc Zislin (wife Aneta), granddaughters Alycia Hamilton (husband Ryan) and Malorie Savran, and great grandchildren Ava, Julie, Leah, Maya, Mollie, and Zach. She was independent, outspoken, supportive, and adaptable.
