SCHENECTADY - In Loving Memory of Earl Daniel Benzal (1927 – 2025)
With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Earl Benzal, who left this world, at the age of 97, on March 11, 2025, after a life well-lived and well-loved. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend, he will be remembered for his kindness, generosity, and for his remarkable ability to fix just about anything.
Born in Schenectady and raised outside Saratoga, Earl had an early curiosity for how things worked-a passion that led him to attend university in Ind., where he honed his skills and set the foundation for a lifelong career. For 42 years, he worked with General Electric, traveling the world and making an impact wherever he went. On a long-term assignment in Romania, he not only solved technical problems, but also built lasting friendships, always ready to lend a helping hand.
There was no problem too big, no machine too broken, and no person too unimportant for his attention. His generosity and ingenuity made him a legend among those who knew him, and his kindness left an imprint that time cannot erase.
Earl is survived by his son, Stuart (Fraser) Benzal; and his granddaughter, Grace Benzal. They will forever remember his lessons and the quiet strength he carried through life. He never met a dog he didn't like, and his dog friend, Hazel, will miss her two daily bones.
His legacy of generosity and ingenuity will live on in the many lives he touched.

Stuart, Rosalind and I have wonderful memories of Dan and Shirley (and you) when we lived in Schenectady in the 60's. Dan was there to help anyone, anytime with a smile and a cheerful remark. Guilderland Avenue is a memory we cherish. 3

Earl and Shirley ,,what a couple. I worked with Earl at GE.
And also knew him through Bob and Connie Gallop my neighbors. Whom I´ll always miss.
How great was it to have Earl around for so long so more people could enjoy knowing him.

Dear Stuart & family, What a blessing to have had your father for so many years. I too, remember your dad as being so kind. When we were young our parents would bring us over to your house to go swimming or just to visit, always a great time. We would leave with a single wrapped serving of a Drakes coffee cake and some extra for later :).

I was fortunate enough to spend a lot of time with both Mr. and Mrs. Benzal. Great people that taught me so much and were a lot of fun to spend time with. Sadly missed by all that knew them. Soo many adventures together!
