Merlin Crapo, 93, passed away March 19, 2026, in Spokane Valley, Washington. He was born November 28, 1932, in Fillmore, Utah, to Lawrin R. Crapo and Adelaide (Paxton) Crapo. Merlin was born deaf and attended the School for the Deaf and Blind in Ogden, Utah.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his twin sister, Marlene; and brothers, Dean and Charles. He is survived by his brothers, Ray, Gordon, and Andrew.
On April 9, 1966, he married Linda (Hamblin) Crapo, who survives him. Together, they raised their children: Merlin J. (Bonnie) Crapo, Beth Bentley, Alvin (Becky) Crapo, James Crapo, and Larina Crapo. He also leaves behind numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Merlin spent many years working in the logging industry in roles such as truck driver, logger, and sawyer. He later worked at Wagstaff Engineering in Spokane Valley as a mold finisher. His work in the logging industry led his family to relocate several times before they settled in Newman Lake, Washington, in 1979.
A devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Merlin found joy in faith, family, and the outdoors. He especially loved hunting, fishing, and the logging life.
A funeral service will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 23515 E. Boone Ave., Liberty Lake, WA, on March 28th at 1:00 p.m. Interment at Saltese Cemetery immediately following.
Merlin will be remembered for his resilience, strong work ethic, and deep love for his family and the outdoors.

I meant Merlin at Harvest Food. He would come in with a list. I would help him. He spent time with me teaching me sign language. Always enjoyed our time. Prayers go out to the family
